Welcome to Maple Class
Maple this term will have Lucy Seddon as class teacher with the support of Megan Fox.
This half term in maple class we are studying Earth and space as our topic which will be fed through all of the curriculum as a thematic approach to learning. In science we are looking at the planets in our solar system, the movement of the Earcth and other planets relative to the sun and moon and how day and night is created. In numeracy we are exploring fractions, in particular; adding and subtracting fractions, equivalent fractions and learning time in digital and analogue format. In Design and technology the children are designing and making their own moon buggy. our PSHE focus is growing and changing, and how rules and laws affect me. We are continuing our sensory centre trips on most Thursdays with a special trip to the museum to look forward to too.
This half term we are studying through the topic of the Romans, our literacy focus is through the text; Roming Romans, with a big focus on extending our sentences to include more complex language. In maths we are exploring place value, addition and subtraction.
In science we are learning about animals and their habitats. The zones of regulation are going to be a huge focus in PSHE seeing us learn to understand and regulate our emotions. Christianity is what we will be learning in RE. PE we are practicing our ball skills and in ICT we are studying online safety.
